Dakota Home Resources
NeighborWorks® Dakota Home Resources formally known as Neighborhood housing services of the Black Hills has been helping Black Hills and Western South Dakota residents Buy, Fix and Keep their Homes for the last twenty years. NeighborWorks® DHR is dedicated to improving the quality of life for our residents by providing safe, decent and affordable housing as well and revitalizing neighborhoods and communities throughout the Black Hills and Western South Dakota.
In 1998, NeighborWorks® Dakota Home Resources became involved with NeighborWorks® America’s “Campaign for Home Ownership.” This campaign seeks to revitalize communities by offering homeownership opportunities. Through the assistance of NeighborWorks® Dakota Home Resources families in South Dakota are realizing their dream of homeownership.
NeighborWorks® Dakota Home Resource offers pre-purchase counseling by certified personnel, Free Home Buyer Education, Free Post Purchase and Financial Success Classes, to help with purchasing and maintenance of a home. NeighborWorks® Dakota Home Resources is here to assist you with your home buying and post purchase needs.
NeighborWorks® Dakota Home Resources mission to provide safe, decent and affordable housing continues to grow strong thanks to the NeighborWorks® DHR construction manager, Dennis Rentz. Dennis has over fifty years of experience in the construction industry and guarantees that NeighborWorks® clients get the home they have always wanted.
In 2007, NeighborWorks® Dakota Home Resource with the support of many community leaders through the area formed Dakota Land Trust. Dakota Land trust is designed to assist low to moderate income families in securing a home, providing assistance after their purchase and encouraging family friendly neighborhoods. NeighborWorks® also organizes a variety of community outreach programs such as:
- Paint the Town
- Plant the Town
- Tri-City Clean Up
- Treasures, Trash, and Cash
These programs engage the residents of our communities and improve the quality of life throughout the Black Hills. Engaging residents plays a big role in accomplishing the NeighborWorks® mission. NeighborWorks® has organized 16 Neighborhood Block Clubs throughout Deadwood, Central City, Lead, Box Elder, Rapid City, Edgemont and Wall.
In 2003, NeighborWorks® DHR developed the Developing Community Leaders Academy. The Academy provides leadership skills to residents.
In 2006, NeighborWorks® DHR also became a member of the Community Building and Organizing Initiative.
