Presidential Block Club

In 1996, the Presidential Block Club became the first organized neighborhood in the City of Deadwood with the assistance of Neighborhood Housing Services of the Black Hills (now known as NeighborWorks® Dakota Home Resources). The neighborhood is so named because all the streets in the neighborhood are named after U.S. Presidents.

The Presidential Block Club is the largest of the Deadwood Block Clubs.

Annual Events

A committee of residents works to organize neighborhood events throughout the year. A summer progressive picnic is held in July with neighbors moving from one home to another to eat and socialize. A soup social is held in November after residents decorate the neighborhood for the holidays. A Christmas social is held during the holiday season. Presidential invites and includes all Survivors’ Ridge residents in all their events at this time.

The Presidential Block Club also participates in Plant the Town by planting flowers throughout the neighborhood. As part of the Tri-City Clean Up, the residents clean up around the city steps below Taylor Avenue.
